Where can I find amateur acting auditions in Los Angeles, CA? You look up auditions in LA and all you see are places that want you to think you're a professional actor. I'm not. There have to be amateur productions around here. |
there are a couple acting trade magazines you can get anywhere around Hollywood called VARIETY
and HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. open calls for community theater and student and ind, films are
listed in them. any open calls in LA will be listed in them. USC does a lot of student films. |
Does anybody know any people that I can call on the phone for teenage amateur acting auditions for me to act? PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME TO SEARCH IT!!!
I did that.
My mother told me to not sign up for any acting auditions SITES because she wants me to find a way to contact them and give her their telephone number so she can talk to them for me.
Anybody know? |
"Teenage amateur acting auditions" are pretty much going to be local. Your school, community theatre, and perhaps the youth theatre programs at universities, if you have one near you.
So you see, there is no way we can tell you who to call. |
Does anyone know of any amateur open auditions for television going on? I'm 13 and my life long dream is to become an actress and I want to audition for something small to get an idea of how things work and get some experience.

What Principal Auditions for an amateur production (Calamity Jane), what song do you think I should sing? I've been asked to have a 2nd audition (the same as a callback) for a main part for an amateur production of Calamity Jane. There are about 10 other girls who have been asked back for another audition as well. In Calamity Jane there are three singing female mains and one acting main.
So, to my point!
I have to have a song ready to sing for the audition. I have a couple of choices that I can sing, but I can't decide whether they are suitable for the genre of musical etc.
I have a mezzo voice and can sing most power-belt songs.
The songs that I have shortlisted to sing are:
The Wizard and I - Wicked
I Can Do Better Than That - Last 5 Years
The Life of the Party - The Wild Party
These three are the ones I'm leaning towards (I think I'm leaning towards Life of the Party more so).
I was also thinking of doing Good Morning Baltimore from Hairspray or No Good Deed from Wicked.
Any other suggestions would be helpful :) |
I looked at the parts and for two of the girl parts I put songs that fit the voice and character:
Calamity Jane (these are mezzo belt songs):
And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going from Dreamgirls
Don't Rain on My Parade from Funny Girl
I Got the Sun in the Morning from Annie Get Your Gun
I'm an Indian Too from Annie Get Your Gun
I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair from South Pacific
Kate Brown(mezzo songs):
A Coc.keyed Optimist from South Pacific (sorry, but it doesn't let me say c o c k e y e d)
A Hundred Million Miracles from Flower Drum Song
Doin' What Comes Natur'lly from Annie Get Your Gun
I Cain't Say No from Oklahoma!
Little Known Facts from You're A Good Man Charlie Brown
The Simple Joys of Maidenhood from Camelot |
Does anyone know of any auditions in UK for CHILDREN? Hi
I am 14 and looking for auditions in theatre. I have trained at Stagecoach for 7 years and have been in a few proffesional productions aswell as lots of amateur dramatics productions.
Would prefer auditions in North of England or North Yorkshire.
I love singing and am taking Music and Drama GCSE.
thanks |
The best website for you is:
www.notapushymum.com/
It is UK-based and is primarily for parents of guys who act, dance and sing but there are a lot of guys on it as well. I'm one of the moderators.
With your experience the next step would be to try and find an agent, not the easiest thing in the world but not impossible and you do have plenty of experience, which is helpful. Luckily the people on the site can advise you if you have any questions.
Karl is right, at 14 you're getting to the unemployable age unless you look significantly younger. There are more girls than boys who want to act, and fewer parts for girls. Plus until you get to 16 you still have licensing restrictions on how long you can be in front of the camera or on stage -- which means that a 16 year old who looks 14 is more likely to get the job than an actual 14 year old. Basically 14 to 16 are the bad years.
If you've been doing Stagecoach for that long I assume your parents are on your side -- I know how much it costs -- so that's handy. What you need to look out for are student films, Leeds University does a fair number, because if you can get into those you'll get camera experience too. There's Yorkshire TV as well so there are possibilities.
Looking further ahead, don't skimp on the rest of your education, remember actors are out of work most of the time, and only a tiny few get famous. You need to have something to fall back on.
As an example: my daughter, 16, who is currently rehearsing The Seagull and The Crucible while in panto, studies Biology and Chemistry at college [as well as English and Drama] because she fancies doing Genetics at Cambridge -- if no big acting job comes along in the mean time.
We live up north as well, Manchester, so we know how hard it is to get any TV/movie work. But just keep on with acting, do as much as you can, perseverence will pay off in the end.

Amateur actress tips for 13year old female? so i want to start a career in acting. i have absolutley no expierience. i haven't even taken an acting class in school. i am a great dancer, don't get stage fright and i am really dramatic. i need tips to get into the buisness.
is there any amateur auditions? if so please list them. |
| Well firstly you should definatley take acting classes. Go to your local community theatre and ask them when their auditioning. Then after a while go and look for a reputable agent. Good Luck! |
How would a 16 year old go about finding and getting auditions? Either for theatre or TV roles? Other than joining amateur theatre/drama companies that is....
Any help appreciated :) |
| Look at agencies or if you want to find them yourslef try The Stage website and newspaper. |

Is there open auditions going for television? I am 13 years old and I am very interested in becoming a actress on television I attend the drama club at my school and I go to a drama and dance school, I have a bit of experience in amateur pantomimes and over little things here and there, but i want to be on TV really badly! I live in Teeside/North Yorkshire, and there isn't any casting agencies in the area, I also don't know were to find open auditions, arrrrghhh!!! Please help, !
Thank you. x] |
No way - TV doesn't audition that way. In fact, TV rarely auditions at all these days. Certainly with your background, you'll get nowhere at this stage - sorry to report, but it's true. You might get an extra agent and get some extra work, but that is not acting, nor does it open doors to acting.
All the best. |
Know any amateur theatre companies in Raleigh, NC? I'm looking to audition. Google's not helpful on this, so if you know of any amateur theatre companies around Raleigh, NC, that'd be great. |
All I did was search for Raleigh Theatre and several came up, I'm not sure what key words you used:
www.raleighlittletheatre.org/
www.raleigh-nc.org/portal/server.…
www.realtheatre.org/
www.theatreinthepark.com/
www.burningcoal.org/
www.actorstheatrecharlotte.org/
www.ctcharlotte.org/
www.triadstage.org/index.php
I'm sure there are more that are fairly local to you, but you may be better off looking in your local paper in the arts section. See what shows are playing and check out websites for the theatres they are playing at.
good luck,
Marianne |
