And on October 24th from 10 a.m - 4 p.m they will be holding auditions for 'santa claus is coming to town'. | Which telescope is right for an amateur user? I'm buying my parents a telescope for Christmas, but could use some advice on what would be right for them. They live down in Arizona in a small retirement community, so I don't think light pollution is much of a problem. Their backyard has a concrete slab that the previous owner used for a bolted-down telescope, so there's a level surface to place the scope. They won't be moving it much other than in and outside the house. I'm debating between a Zhumell Dobsonian Reflector (8 or 10 inch) or a Meade DS-2130LNT Reflector. My parents are not tech savvy, so I want something that is easy for them to set up and not too difficult to use and view planets/stars/galaxies, etc. I'm looking to spend $300-500, but don't have a clue as to the difference between these types of scopes. Any recommendations or explanation on the difference between them would be appreciated (8 vs 10 inch, motorized vs not, etc). Other scope recommendations are also welcome. Thanks. |

| What's the title of this movie? I watched this movie in LA class and my teacher is making us write an essay on it :P The movie was about hiking K2. In the first scene, there's a young woman (girl?) named Annie, her brother Matt (I think) and their dad. They're climbing a cliff in what looks like Australia (or Arizona). Some amateur climbers fall and swing from their ropes, taking Annie, Matt (let's call him Matt for now) and their dad. They're hanging on on a rope but barely. The dad tells Matt to cut the rope and let him fall or all three of them will die. So Matt cuts the rope and his dad falls. I fell asleep after that. In the next scene I watched, Annie, Matt, and some other people are climbing the K2. Annie, this guy named Tom, and this other guy falls through a crack into a snow cave thing. They're trapped there and the walkie-talkie isn't working so Annie and Matt somehow used Morse code to communicate. Annie and Tom got water in their lungs and they're coughing and are going to die. Matt and the others try to rescue them but get nearly killed themselves. One man with a beard almost falls down a cliff and another woman who was a nurse rescues him. Then there's a scene where there's a man in his house and it blows up. Then some other people contact Matt (it might have been someone else) and tell him that some kind of bomb they're carrying blow up in the sun and to get to the shade. So Matt and some other people (probably one or two, I can't exactly remember) get to the shade and bury the backpack in the snow and try to contact two other men but their walkie-talkies are off. So Matt yells like mad to turn it on and they hear it and turn it on. They also bury their backpacks under the snow but the explosive stuff leaks and flows to a place in the sun. It explodes and the three trapped under the snow have snow and ice fall on them. Matt and the others stop for the night. Annie secretly contact Matt. She tells him to stop trying to rescue her, that she's only got 1~2 hours left. Then the teacher turned it off and told us to watch it in the school library. I've got to write this by Monday please help :( |
