Okay so basically I just left a church (United Pentecostal) because I felt like their interpretation of the bible is incorrect. They keep telling me that baptism is neccessary for salvation but I disagree. I believe that salvation comes through faith and gods grace not by works of baptism. So basically I need help in trying to prove my point. Please show me scripture and your opinions in helping me show them my point. I greatly aprreciate it. Here is a copy of what they sent me: 1. Yes salvation is part by faith, but not only. Ephesians was written to already "saved" meaning they were filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus' name. We loosely use the terminology "saved" when one initally begins salvation. Meaning they have just begun the walk of salvation, which no, we technically are not yet saved. In the Scripture you reffered to Paul was talking to people that had already been baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost, he was then telling them that we're not saved by what we do, our rightousness is as filthy rags before God, because the church at Ephesus was presuming to be saved by what they did. Baptism is not a work of man, it is an act of faith. Peter was not lieing when he said be baptized for the remission of sins. It's not a profession of faith, it is a washing away of our sins. John 3. Jesus' discussion with Nicodemus. He said be born of the water and of the spirit or he CANNOT enter the kingdom of heaven in verse 5. Jesus was not being optional there. Your sins can be forgiven but not remitted. Meaning God can forgive you but until they are washed away they still remain before Him. The blood of an bullock and a goat was shed. But it did not stop there the high priest had to take the blood and apply/sprinkle it on the alter and mercy seat that were in the temple. This was done to cleanse the sanctuary from the stain of sin. Killing the sacrifice was not enough, the shed blood was not enough, the blood had to be applied for the cleansing of the sanctuary/temple. This command I have received from My Father.” If the angels that appear on behalf of God Almighty, can speak in first person as if they were God Almighty himself, then when Christ says at the end of John 10:18 : “This command I have received from My Father.” , we should NOT be CONFUSED.
